Manchester Comedy Store

April 3rd, 2008

So I went to the Manchester comedy store when I was there visiting friends a few weeks ago. The trip didn’t start with a laugh however. I’ve recently broken up with my “partner” – I use the term partner because I never thought it would end. I didn’t push for marriage, and part of me now thinks perhaps that is what I should have done? Then again, perhaps I’d be in the same situation but this time having to go through a divorce process instead of just breaking up. Well I‘ve decided I needed to get away from it, so the first thing I did was do what everyone does when they are looking for everything. I got on the internet. I googled “change” first, but didn’t find that the BBC or a Wikipedia explanation could help me at all. So I went for more specifics. I did a search for tattoo removal Stockport and by the afternoon had the unnameable name removed from my skin. That made me feel lots better. By the time the evening random searches had finished, yahoo had suggested that I move house. Suddenly this seemed like the best most logical thing to do! A move would mean a new start, a fresh slate. I yahoo’d free property search uk and the next thing I know I’m looking at a place in Manchester. I have friends in Manchester, so it seemed as good as anywhere, and with the usual speed that the internet provides within a few days I was on my way up there to view the flat. I decided to go up the night before and go out with my friends. All of them have partners so it was a mixed crowd. I thought that going out with couples would really depress me, but actually seeing my mates was so good I didn’t notice it too much. We went to the comedy store, and had a really good night, I did me someone in the bar that I got with quite well. I wasn’t sure it was anything, but I sure appreciated the attention. When you break up with someone after a long time there is always a period of self doubt so I’ve been told. Having someone interested really helped that.
The next day, I went to see the house and guess who was selling it – that’s right! My meeting from the night before! Well, I was certainly enamoured to buy the house after that, except for the fact that when someone buys it they are leaving Manchester for, guess where… Stockport!

The Karaoke of comedy

March 30th, 2008

Friday night this week I went to the London Karaoke of comedy at the Miller in London bridge and it was a very interesting night. The format is truly unique, the first half grand theft impro, just seem to do a random selection of their repertoire. then in the second half they selected 7 people from the audience (who had signed ping pong balls) they were then put in a whole bunch of different scenes, with grand theft impro. It's was a little crazy some of the scenes were great so were hysterical in there madness. The whole thing was a lot of fun, it was a bit disorganized. Two of the girl did one scene and then was missed out entirely form the rest of the show. The director was so apologetic he got Grand theft to sing them an apology song.

I would highly recommend the show, even though it was a little rough around the corner is is a very very unqiue format.
